With winery manager and Master of Wine Roman Horvath and cellar master Heinz Frischengruber, the Wachau domain is one of Austria's leading white wine wineries. The steep terraces and vineyards along the Danube are laboriously cultivated by the winegrowing families of the Wachau domain. Together they have a clear goal in mind: wines with a distinctive origin with expression, character and elegance.
Terroir: Grüner Veltliner comes from different locations between Loiben and Spitz for this terrace bottling. The aim is to represent a typical Wachau style, characterized by the special climate and the primeval rock soil. The laborious cultivation of the steep stone terrace vineyards and the barren soil, which can only be carried out by hand, reduce the yield to around 7000 kg/ha.
Tasting Note: A brilliantly shining straw yellow in color. The scent is open and accessible, subtle and playful with aromas of white pepper, some tobacco and exotic. A refreshing acidity is paired with a full body and medium alcohol content. There is also a little acacia and pear in the aroma. Long finish!
