Colchagua Valley, in central Chile, is one of South America's most promising wine regions.  It forms the south-western half of the larger Rapel Valley region.  Some of Chile's finest red wines are made in the valley, mostly from Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Syrah.

The region's desirable terroir, combined with persistent, focused marketing has made this one of Chile's most important wine regions, along with Maipo Valley in the north.

Cono Sur Organic Cabernet Sauvignon Carmenere is a delightful Chilean red wine blend that showcases the best of both varietals.  This organic wine offers a harmonious mix of rich flavors, combining the boldness of Cabernet Sauvignon with the smoothness of Carmenere.

"The certified 2018 Organic Cabernet Sauvignon / Carmenere / Syrah is a blend of 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Carmenere and 25% Syrah from different locations across Chile.  Seventy percent of the volume matured in used barrels and the rest in stainless steel with oak staves.  It's a juicy and approachable red blend that is quite fruit-driven.  It's a rare combination of grapes that seems to work quite well, and the combination of places where the different grapes are grown seems to add some complexity.  The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and some detail, and it gains complexity in the glass.

Wine Review: This Cabernet Sauvignon Carmenere is made from grapes grown organically.  This reddish purple wine from Colchagua Valley offers an expressive and very fruity to the nose, with notes of plums, berries, and dry fruits.  In the mouth, this juicy blend is a delightful concentration of red and black fruits, which are in complete harmony with soft tannins.  A wine of integrated character, that culminates in a chocolate finish with underlying woody and toasty hints.
