Bouchard Pere & Fils Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens Domaine 2019 features an intense nose with layers of red berry fruit, wild hedgerow, fern, and tea leaf aromas. The medium-bodied palate is harmonious, showcasing supple tannins, a fine acidity, and a gentle grip on the saline finish, with a lingering hint of Japanese nori. This wine impresses with its elegance and red fruit expression.

Bouchard Père & Fils is a renowned Burgundy producer that has meticulously maintained the monopole (sole ownership) of the Clos St-Landry vineyard in Beaune since 1791. This historic Premier Cru site is one of the rare places in the Pinot Noir-dominant Beaune region where the Chardonnay grape variety has flourished for centuries.

Classified "tête de cuvée" as early as 1855 by Dr.Lavalle, the "Climat" of Rugiens- Hauts is no doubt one of the most reputed of Pommard. Its fame is such that it was suggested that its name be added to that of the village of Pommard. Bouchard Père & Fils acquired vineyards here in 1853 and today still owns the 42 ares bought at that time.

Tasting note : Fruit aromas combined with animal notes and an oaky touch on the nose. A rich, robust and intense wine with spicy and peppery notes, calling for a bit of patience to open up completely. Very good ageing potential.

Wine Advocate 90-92 Points: “"Loads of super-ripe red apples, cherries, and raspberries are found in the expressive aromatics of the concentrated 2002 Pommard Rugiens (domaine). Velvety-textured, medium to full-bodied, and dense, it is a structured wine that is crammed with deep red fruits and ripe tannin.”
