Clase Azul Tequila Anejo undergoes a 25-month transformation process. The blue agave hearts are slow-cooked in masonry ovens, extracting their natural sugars. After fermentation, the tequila is double-distilled in copper stills before spending a significant amount of time maturing in American whiskey casks. This aging process imbues the tequila with a rich amber colour and a depth of flavour unattainable in younger tequilas.
This tequila is a culmination of heritage, artistry, and meticulous craftsmanship. Presented in a stunning decanter adorned with symbolism, it tells the story of the Mazahua culture and its deep connection to the land. Inside, the tequila itself, aged for 25 months in American whiskey casks, offers a complex flavour profile unlike any other silver tequila.
Decanter:
Its distinctive decanter is molded and decorated by Mazahua natives, a group indigenous to the small village of Santa María Canchesda. Starting from the bottom of the bottle, the spiral appliqué on unfired clay symbolizes the earth’s fertility. When the earth comes in to contact with water, represented by a fine blue line, it gives life to the agave. Once the agave has reached its optimal ripeness and is jimado (“harvested”), the treasured heart of the agave is obtained. Finally, the ornamentation of the bottle concludes at the neck of the bottle with a 24 karat gold vermeil charm medallion and feathered design that distinctively represents Clase Azul.
Clase Azul is a luxury tequila brand located in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, founded in 1997 by Arturo Lomeli. Its spirits are made from 100% blue agave sourced from one of the highest points in Jalisco. The unique climate and soil characteristics of the region provide a distinctive flavor profile for the tequila. Each agave plant is cultivated for a minimum of 6 to 8 years. It is slow-cooked to perfection and then aged in bourbon whiskey barrels for at least 8 months, embodying a rich history both inside and out.
Today, the company produces a variety of tequilas and margaritas, using selected agave varieties, including Maguey Cenizo and the rare Papalote variety.
