Nose:
Citrus fruits, white peach, pear and grapefruit combine with pineapple and spring flowers, and marzipan and sweet spices, to create a unique and delicate bouquet.
Palate:
The mouth is markedly mineral but still round and silky, with an elegant and long persistence.

Hervé Deschamps became the Cellar Master at Perrier-Jouët in 1993. So, the 2013 is quite a special release marking the end of his second decade at the helm. As expected from the ever-consistent Belle Époque, it’s another stellar wine and reminds us very much of the fabulous 2012.
For this stunningly presented gift box, Perrier-Jouët has teamed up with an Austrian design duo called mischer’traxler studio. Their watercolours echo and then ramp up the poetic and nature-based elements of the iconic Belle Époque bottle, as well as highlighting the Champagne house’s commitment to an ecologically responsible future. Based in Vienna and exhibited worldwide, Katharina Mischer and Thomas Traxler have worked with Perrier-Jouët on a number of occasions, with the first back in December 2014, which is probably why they have managed to capture the essence and joy of this spectacular wine so well.
The bottle of Perrier-Jouët's Belle Époque Champagne 2013 is wrapped in the house’s instantly recognisable floral design. Representing one of the world's most famous Prestige Cuvée Champagnes, each bottle of Belle Époque comes in a bottle adorned with hand-painted Art Nouveau flowers. It was crafted using Chardonnay from the Grand Cru villages of Cramant and Avize, Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims and a dash of Pinot Meunier from Dizy. 2012 was a Pinot Noir year and 2013 was a Chardonnay year, so it shows just how good Hervé Deschamps is to create a wine so similar in the two very different years.
The 2013 vintage release is rich, creamy and golden in style with spice and floral notes, layered flavours of baked apple, pear, peach sorbet, pineapple, white blossom, marzipan, roasted hazelnut skins and grapefruit notes to give a lingering, rounded finish. This would make an elegant gift for a wedding, birthday, anniversary or almost any other manner of celebration.
