Chateau Quinault l’Enclos is located in St. Emilion in the Bordeaux wine region of France. The vineyards of the estate cover 18 hectares full of vines made up of 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec. The vines are between 60 and 70 years old as most of them were planted in the 1930s. The soil at the Chateau is mainly sandy gravel with traces of iron. The warm climate of the area allows early maturation of the grapes and protects them from frosts.

"This was the first vintage that technical director Pierre-Olivier Clouet started to exclusively use 500-liter barrels for Quinault l'Enclos, decreasing the surface area to which the wines are exposed and, ultimately, the impact of the oak. The percentage of new oak is around 50%, and the blend is 68% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Cabernet Franc. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Quinault l'Enclos opens with expressive redcurrants, black raspberries and black cherries scents with savory suggestions of tapenade, dried herbs and tobacco plus a waft of cloves. Medium-bodied, the palate is fantastically bright and lively with loads of red fruit accents and a firm frame of grainy tannins, finishing on an earthy note." - Reviewed by Lisa Perrotti-Brown

"Intense ruby, purple reflections, subtle ochre brightening on the rim. Sweet, dark fruits of the forest, nuances of sweet cherry, a touch of nougat and delicate hints of blueberry and orange zest. Juicy, nuances of red fruit, fresh acidity, integrated tannins and a mineral-salty finish with a savoury edge. Already very approachable."
