Kilchoman Sauternes Cask Matured

Kilchoman Distillery was established in 2005 by Anthony Wills, Kilchoman is Islay's sole farm distillery, crafting independent Single Farm Single Malt Whisky traditionally. It stands out as one of Scotland's few independent distilleries, embodying Islay's terroir in every bottle.

The third limited release of this variant was bottled in late May 2024 after being fully aged in ex-Sauternes wine casks for over 5 years at 50% ABV. Master blender Anthony Wills carefully balanced the Sauternes cask influence with Kilchoman's classic character, utilizing a mix of 22% first-fill and 78% second-fill Sauternes casks from 2017 and 2018. Notably, most second-fill casks were from the 2018 release, resulting in a flavorful blend of buttery sweetness, barbecued pineapple, candied ginger, and floral peat smoke—a beloved choice among Kilchoman enthusiasts for its butterscotch, candied apricot, and salty peat smoke notes with a long finish.
