While both Machir Bay and Sanaig have same initial peating level of 50ppm, Kilchoman Machir Bay is aged predominantly in bourbon casks (about 90%), while Kilchoman Sanaig is made with about 70% sherried whisky, so this is the ideal pair of Kilchoman whiskies for comparison.

Tasting Note: Machir Bay soft cooked fruits with strong peaty aromas. Mixed fruit, vanilla with long finish. Sanaig Caramel and vanilla aroma, toffee, peat smoke and citrus with sweet fruity finish. These are part of Kilchoman core range and showcases the two main type of cask maturation: Ex-Oloroso Sherry and Ex-Bourbon.
