Roberto Voerzio is one of the living winemaking legends in Piedmont and one of the staunch believer in lowering yield to maximize quality. Roberto Voerzio was founded in 1986 in La Morra which is a village deep in the heart of the Langhe region of Piedmont. The wines are typically sold at auction and are known for being ripe, opulent, tannic, and made for aging. Roberto Voerzio’s fruit comes from their 21 acres of some of the best and oldest vineyeards in La Morra, which are mentioned municipality documents dating back to 1350. Their esteemed wines are made from the six different, low-yielding Barolo Crus: Brunate, Cerequio, Capalot, La Serra, Pozzo dell’Anunziata, and Sarmassa di Barolo. Roberto Voerzio’s portfolio is rounded out by its two Barbera d’Alba wines, a Dolcetto d’Alba, a Langhe Merlot, and a Langhe Nebbiolo. The combination of traditional winemaking methods with a modern take has made Voerzio a new-age example for Barolo.

"Shows off gorgeous, silky fruit, finessed tannins and superb length. Dark fruit, graphite and spices emerge over time, adding further shades of complexity and depth. This shows marvelous intensity, but it is years away from showing its hand. The Pozzo usually starts drinking well around age ten, but given the sheer concentration of the 2007 and the magnum format, that may turn out to be an overly optimistic view. His is an absolutely beautiful, harmonious Barbera that only requires patience. " - Antonio Galloni
