Maxime Cheurlin has revived the Domaine Georges Noëllat since 2010, earning praise from critics and collectors. Growing up in Champagne, he returned to Burgundy at 19 and has elevated the winery's reputation. With a bold, sensual style, he is considered the younger version of Sylvain Cathiard. The estate has excellent terroirs, and Cheurlin has focused on optimal cellar conditions and barrel selection to fully express each vineyard. The hot 2019 vintage produced low yields but high quality, with slow ripening allowing for perfect grape structure. Despite the challenges, the wines are remarkably fresh.

“An overtly spicy nose offers up elegant and pure aromas of black cherry and raspberry along with hints of dark tea and an interesting note of tangerine. The delicious medium-bodied flavors possess an almost delicate mouth feel before concluding in a solidly mineral-inflected finish that is mildly edgy and a bit clipped. It's possible that the less than ideal balance is the result of the recent bottling but that is far from certain”
