Domaine Dublere Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Aux Bousselots 2016

Domaine Dublère has many vineyards in the Burgundy region, ranging from the Chablis appellation to the 1er Cru vineyards of Chassagne-Montrachet. Owner Blair Pethel is very knowledgeable about the terroir of each of his vineyards. He also purchases grapes from vineyards he believes produce the best quality. Pethel follows a minimalist approach in both his viticulture and winemaking, using as few chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides as possible in the vineyards. The grapes are all hand-harvested and immediately placed in inert gas-filled containers to avoid premature oxidation. In the winery, native yeasts are used for fermentation, and the wines are aged for 18-22 months.

Unfortunately, Domaine Dublère has been sold. After much consideration, Pethel has decided to sell the domaine to his neighbor, Domaine des Terres de Velle. The 2017 and 2018 vintages will be bottled under a new label, with 2016 being the last vintage from Domaine Dublère.

This particular wine is from the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Bousselots vineyard. This specific plot is located in the northern part of Nuits-Saint-Georges, with clay and limestone-dominant soils that are well-suited for Pinot Noir. Despite some weather challenges in 2016, the grapes produced were of excellent structure and quality. Domaine Dublère's expertise in handling such vintages, along with their careful winemaking and aging process, has resulted in a charming Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru bottling.
