The Marquis de Calon Ségur is the second wine from Château Calon Ségur. This red wine from the Saint-Estèphe appellation comes from a 50-hectare vineyard with 45 of them in production. With an average age of 22 years, the vines are planted on gravel-clay soils. The 2016 harvest took place from September 25 to October 15. The wine is aged in barrels (30% in new barrels) for 17 months. The blend of the Marquis de Calon Ségur 2016 consists of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon.
At tasting, the Marquis de Calon Ségur 2016 develops a rich bouquet of jammy black fruit (blackberry) fragrances. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with a delicately firm structure that offers fine-grained tannins and a lovely freshness.
